Mt. Olivet Family & Friends Annual Meeting September 29, 2024!

All current and prospective families and friends are invited to the Annual Mt. Olivet Family & Friends Meeting on Sunday, September 29th from 1pm to 2:30pm. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get to better know one another, hear about the latest cemetery happenings, and provide input for future improvements. Also on the agenda:
– Infant Memorial Garden Dedication
– Welcome Garden Celebration
– US Military Veteran Gravestone Restoration.

Annual Apple Festival Fun September 28, 2024

Supporting local families and the community is part of our ongoing mission, which is why Mt. Olivet is proud to be a part of the New Cumberland Olde Town Association’s Annual Apple Festival. It’s a wonderful way to further connect with our families and meet new friends. We hope you stop our tent to say hi.

Trinity Church 150th Celebration

Another example of our close relationship to the community… We’re proud that the Trinity Church congregation gathered at Mt. Olivet in August 2023 to celebrate their 150th Anniversary. The commemorative plaque located to the left as you drive up Park Drive into Mt. Olivet speaks to our special connection.

My sister says we have 7 generations at Mt Olivet, and I believe my family epitomizes your mission statement about gathering- We gather there often. (INTERRED: Saurman, Dierich, Getz, Hoover, Danner, Wrightstone, Coble, Rupp, Hampshire, Williams, Breneman, Mast, Keller, Johnson, Shorter, Marshall…probably more…) 

Just prior to my Fathers death and burial last year, I wrote a song about how I feel about my visits to Mt Olivet Cemetery, highlighting some of the vignettes of my personal connections because I was afraid my feelings might change when my Dad was gone.

I love the cemetery so much, I think you will hear why in my song.
